SMA Comments on Construction of Pipelines Using Domestic Iron and Steel

SMA submitted comments in response to the U.S. Department of Commerce request for information on the construction and maintenance of American pipelines.  This request was in connection with the January 24 Presidential Memorandum directing the Secretary of Commerce to “develop a plan under which all new pipelines, as well as retrofitted, repaired, or expanded pipelines, inside the borders of the United States, including portions of pipelines, use materials and equipment produced in the United States, to the maximum extent possible and to the extent permitted by law.”

SMA strongly supports the intent of this policy, which we believe will ensure that U.S. companies and American workers benefit from the construction of American pipelines.
