JSW Steel USA Joins Steel Manufacturers Association

The Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) announced today that JSW Steel USA has rejoined the association, and JSW Steel USA Chief Executive Officer Rob Simon has rejoined SMA’s board of directors. Simon was chairman of SMA in 2011 while serving as an executive with EVRAZ North America.

“We share SMA’s commitment to high-tech, low-emissions steelmaking that builds strong communities and makes life better for American families,” Simon said. “We put a high value on SMA’s pursuit of policies that ensure the fair trade of steel and raw materials while recognizing and rewarding our efforts to decarbonize the supply chain.”

JSW Steel (USA) Inc. and JSW Steel USA Ohio Inc., subsidiaries of JSW Steel Ltd, are collectively referred to as JSW Steel USA. JSW Steel is the flagship business of the diversified U.S.$24 billion JSW Group. JSW USA operates an electric arc furnace (EAF) steel mill in Mingo Junction, Ohio, and a plate and pipe mill in Baytown, Texas. The company makes custom carbon steel plates, DSAW pipe and hot rolled coil products. Customers include shipyards, oilfield fabricators, heavy equipment producers, machinery makers and the global energy and petrochemicals industry, among others. JSW Steel USA has about 750 employees.

SMA President Philip K. Bell said, “We are pleased to welcome JSW Steel USA and Rob Simon back to SMA. They make high-quality steel products using modern, low-emissions processes, and they are investing in increased capacity to produce steel that is melted and manufactured in America. The support of JSW Steel USA puts additional force behind our efforts to promote policies that sustain, strengthen and restore the domestic steel industry.”
