SMA Supports EPA WOTUS Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, SMA Executive Vice President Brandon Farris released the following statement:

“Creating a predictable permitting process is critical to economic growth and job creation. For too long, our nation’s environmental regulations delayed and stifled  the next generation of American manufacturing. Steel manufacturers applaud the EPA for charting a new path.

“The definition and delineation of waters of the United States has been a perennial issue that creates uncertainty for steel manufacturers as we invest billions in new facilities. We commend EPA for diligently working to craft a durable WOTUS rule that puts an end to the regulatory whiplash. Today’s supplemental notice builds on that important work.

“Steel manufacturers will continue working with EPA to develop smart regulation that grows our economy and protects our environment.”
