SMA President Philip K. Bell issued the following statement today:

“The Steel Manufacturers Association congratulates President Trump and the Department of Commerce on a robust inclusions process identifying additional steel-containing products to be covered by the steel tariffs.

“The steel tariffs are necessary for the national security that a strong steel industry provides. One of President Trump’s signature achievements of his second term is renewing and strengthening the steel tariffs. 

“However, as the steel tariffs are bolstering the domestic steelmaking industry, bad actors are looking for loopholes, such as other steel-containing products that they might be able to dump into our country. The inclusions process is an important addition to the 232 steel tariffs, ensuring a level playing field for American-made steel. 

“Thank you, President Trump and Secretary Lutnick, for continuing to prioritize the domestic steel industry and the national security our workers provide.”
