An SMA delegation led by SMA Chairman Ty Garrison of CMC, SMA board member and Global Steel Climate Council Chairman Greg Murphy of Nucor, and SMA board member Ed Goettl of Optimus Steel for meetings at the White House to talk about fair trade policy, the importance of a single standard for steel in the Buy Clean program and the value of electric furnace steelmaking to America’s clean-energy future.

The three executives, along with SMA President Philip K. Bell and SMA Vice President-Government Affairs Brandon Farris, met with Ambassador Katherine Tai at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative; Navtej Dhillon, deputy director of the White House National Economic Council; Dr. Monica Gorman, special assistant to the president for manufacturing and industrial policy; and representatives from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the White House Office of Climate Policy.
