“The Steel Manufacturers Association applauds President Trump for implementing a series of historic trade deals that strengthen American manufacturing. President Trump has been a strong champion of the domestic steel industry for years, pioneering the 232 steel tariff, which resulted in historic investments in people, processes and equipment. Since his second term began, the Trump administration has crafted multiple trade deals with major trading partners such as the Republic of Korea, the European Union, Japan and others that will benefit our economy. Opening global market access, fortifying American energy and driving major investments in our country will provide American manufacturing a level playing field to compete with any country in the world. Nowhere is a level playing field more vital than the steel industry, which for years has suffered from China-led excess capacity. Our industry thanks President Trump for always putting American workers first.
