Speaking at a press conference coinciding with the SMA Board of Directors meeting in San Antonio last week, SMA President Philip K. Bell addressed the challenge of a surge in steel product imports from Mexico.

In a call with reporters on Thursday, Steel Manufacturers Association President Philip Bell reiterated those concerns and expressed appreciation that USTR was “taking a firm position on how serious this is.”
“You not only have the import surge, but you have all of those associated problems that come with it – transshipment, not living up to the spirit of the USMCA, dumping – all of these things that are really very serious,” he said.
