Today, the Steel Manufacturers Association sent a letter to House Energy Subcommittee Chair Bob Latta and Ranking Member Kathy Castor ahead of a critical hearing on nuclear energy to underscore the importance of this technology to affordable, reliable electricity.

“Steel manufacturers are investing in America’s communities, deploying $25 billion in capital here in the U.S. to modernize, expand, and construct facilities. With this investment comes the need for dependable power,” wrote Brandon Farris, SMA Vice President of Government Affairs. “For the American steel industry and manufacturing in general to grow in the U.S., policymakers must accelerate the deployment of new generation and transmission. Nuclear technology is essential to satisfy America’s growing energy demand and realize the promise of a resurgent domestic manufacturing sector by providing dependable, baseload power.”
