The Steel Manufacturers Association provided a statement for the record to the Senate Subcommittee on Fisheries, Water, and Wildlife ahead of the Hearing Examining the Challenges and Opportunities with Implementing the Endangered Species Act. The hearing comes as steel manufacturers are investing $25 billion in capital to ramp up domestic production and create strong, community-sustaining jobs throughout the country.

“Comprehensive permitting reform is necessary for the revitalization of U.S. manufacturing and American energy security…” wrote SMA Executive Vice President, Brandon Farris. “The Endangered Species Act is one such example where commonsense reforms to federal environmental authorities can support American reindustrialization and job creation.”
