Steel Manufacturers Association is urging the House of Representatives to pass permitting reform legislation. The SMA sent a letter to congressional leaders highlighting the importance of the PERMIT Act and SPEED Act, among other bills, to advancing critical steel manufacturing projects and creating good paying jobs across America.

“We need to fix our broken permitting system, safeguarding the environment while enabling economic growth and, with that growth, creating new, good paying manufacturing jobs,” wrote Brandon Farris, SMA Vice President of Government Affairs. “Legislation such as the bipartisan SPEED Act and the PERMIT Act will bring much-needed predictability to the federal permitting process. SMA urges Members of Congress to vote yes on these commonsense permitting reforms, which will allow our members to protect the environment and create the type of jobs that enhance affordability for everyday Americans.”
